Climate change, once spoken about in the future tense, is here, and the consequences are already devastating. The impacts hit Black, Latinx, Indigenous and other communities of color hardest, exacerbating deep inequities that are the result of systemic racism. We have a razor-thin, pro-environment trifecta in the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives an a very narrow window of time to pass the bold legislation that we desperately need. Right now, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make meaningful progress to mitigate the climate crisis at the pace science demands and in a manner that addresses environmental injustice and economic inequality, including through the creation of good, family-sustaining jobs in a new clean energy economy. We know that one of the most important strategies at our disposal is to demonstrate to key members of Congress that the environment is a winning issue, both on the hill and at home. LCV's unique role is our ability to make that case leading up to legislative debates and heading in the 2022 elections and beyond. Join environmental champions Senator Tammy Duckworth (IL) and the Chair of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight Congresswoman Katie Porter (CA-45) on the current debate in the Senate and House as well as Tucson Arizona Mayor Regina Romero on how this legislation could impact her hometown and what she's hearing from her constituents on the ground. Then, we'll break into groups for discussion on how to become effective advocates for this legislation with Members of Congress and other key leaders across the country.
